The Challenge
Creating a realistic and engaging sniper game that combines accurate physics simulation with compelling gameplay mechanics.
Our Solution
Developed a high-fidelity sniper game with realistic ballistics, weather effects, and an engaging mission system using advanced game engine capabilities.
Technologies Used
- Unity3D
- C#
- Photon Engine
- 3ds Max
- NVIDIA PhysX
How it works
The game is built in Unity with C#. Bullets are simulated as projectiles, not as instant hit-scan rays, so distance, drop and wind all affect where a shot lands. That single decision shapes the whole game: it is what makes long shots feel earned.
Environments and weapons were modeled in 3ds Max. Multiplayer modes run on Photon, which takes care of matchmaking and state synchronization so the team could spend its time on the shooting itself.
The hard part
Projectile ballistics and mobile frame rates pull in opposite directions. Physics checks are kept cheap by simulating only live rounds and simplifying collision meshes at range, where the player cannot see the difference anyway.
Touch controls were the other long-running problem. Aiming a scoped rifle with a thumb is nothing like using a mouse, and sensitivity curves, aim assistance and scope sway went through many rounds of playtesting before they felt fair.
